"the space is a huge, coloured, flat and smooth playground.

I feel like people come here to learn. To improve skills. And to show each other how they wanna have fun.
Today the square remains empty in the middle -groups of people re aggregated in three corners of the space. Still, when you cross the empty space in the center you dn't feel observed.

-there are a few freesouls skating with their roller-coasters around the space: they are beautiful. I'd like to feel what they are feeling right now.

some other people are just by themselves: listening to music, reading, and there is me, writing down thughts.

A few business are going on here
-a food and beverage cart with a closed red umbrella on it.

The main aggragation of pople is on my left, spread on the whole lenght of the square where a long concrete structure works like a social bench.

two drunk men are fighting right now. SHOUTING.
People are interested, but not too much. and even if I am close to the men, I fell safe. I know that nothing could happen to me: I have people around me.

there are three girls who are skating with their roller-coasters since I've arrived. what a beauty! what a tranquillity!

I can feel the street/skate culture in this place: just a few visitors are sit down, the rest are dancing, singing - someon low and some others loud - and skating.

I don't think tourists feel confortable in this place. Why? Well, too many people are shouting and the music, somewhere, is loud. And probably someone is gonna skate really close to you, making you feel disorientated: "what's this space for? ... not for me!'' they could think.
-look at this family on the left! they dont feel confortable at all.

I am pretty sure that citizens of rotterdam, who are out of this strong street-culture and out of this mentality are just witing the DePot to open, and the squre to be renovated into a public garden.

I love this place.

insteadofkeepinganyofyourbelongingsonyourlap.Thatwayyoufeelsafer,at ease and
have a more pleasant experience while traveling via public transport services.
WHAT PLACE AM I DESIGNED FOR?Iamdesignedforthemetro,tramandbus.Youwillbeabletoconvenientlylocatemeunderyourseat.
Itakeupthefreespaceunderneaththeseatswhichwouldotherwisebeleft unused.
So I sit under the seat and keep your bags safe.
HOW AM I ACTIVATED?YouhavetouseyourOVchipcarttounlockmeandthenyoucanstoreyourbelongingsinside.
Nooneelsecanunlockmebutyousorestassuredonlyyouwillhaveaccesstoyourbelongings.
Soevenifyouforgetyourbags,theywillbetheresafewithme,untilyouhaveaccess to me again.

DEVELOPMENT OF OUR IDEA

Wecollectivelydecidedtocontinuewithourinitialgesture,whichwas“holdingontoyourbag”.
WhileridingthepublictransportsystemshereinRotterdam,werealizedthattherearesufficientspacesunderneaththeseatsofthemetrosandtrams.
Thisledustotheideaofcreating“seatlockers”whichcanutilizetheavailablespaceunderneath
theseatstostoreormoreappropriately,holdourbelongingsforus.
Wedesignedthishypotheticalseatasawayforustobeabletohaveamoreenjoyableandcomfortable
travelexperiencewhileusingpublictransportsystems.
Wefirmlybelievethatbyhaving“seatlockers”,itcangiveeverytravelerthe
peaceofmindthat
theirbelongingswillbesafe and relieve any tension that they might feel.
